A Great Idea Poseidon Undersea Resort That Never Was

Have you ever found out about something and think it is a perfect idea? The Poseidon Undersea Resorts was a proposed chain of underwater five-star resorts that was first slated to open by September 2008. The first was to be located on a private island in Fiji. The project was to be the world's first permanent one-atmosphere seafloor structure. Not all great ideas make it.  Here is the story of what could have been.

The Plans

The Resort was to provide all the comforts, conveniences and opportunities only a five-star resort can offer, Poseidon’s Mysterious Island is the culmination of every elite vacationer’s vision. The proposed location was Katafanga Island in Fiji. With a design concept in mind, Jones needed to find an appropriate location. To help find it, Jones offered a $10,000 reward for anybody that came up with the perfect location for the venture. After taking the suggestion of a business associate, who recommended a reef off Eleuthera, an island in the Bahamas, negotiations began with the island's American owners. The negotiations did not go well, and after a year of failed back-and-forth offers the location was scrapped and sights were set off Fiji. The Poseidon undersea resort still doesn't exist.

At a real Tucson Bed & Breakfast
What a great adventure this idea could have grown into. But lack of money lead to the idea never reaching its goal.

Planned activities were to be for adventurers who wish to explore the unimaginable, like maneuvering a personal Triton submarine through a lagoon, exploring the ocean’s depths as the passenger of a 1,000-foot luxury submersible, and scuba diving in pristine waters. Those who seek solitude will find the epitome of relaxation when indulging in marine-focused spa treatments and meditation under the gaze of only the moon and stars. Whether traveling alone, as a pair, or in a group, you will find what you seek.

Services were to include two fine dining establishments, one on land and one below the sea, presenting plates of culinary excellence day and night. A dive shop and retail boutique will also be at your service, along with a library/lounge, theater area and conference room/wedding chapel. Fitness amenities include a nine-hole executive golf course, tennis courts, private splash pools and a fitness center.

And then there’s your definitive playground… the ocean.

Teh idea was so you could hold a unforgettable wedding or a vox–renewal ceremony, or if you simply wish to experience a romantic escapade without bounds. Poseidon’s facilities are un–matched. And there’s no need to worry about the details; our wedding/event consultants and guest services staff will help make your wishes come true.

Underwater
Or, for a wedding ceremony or vow renewal truly unlike any other, reserve the undersea chapel. This splendid space offers an enchanting environment made all the more interesting with its ever-changing backdrop: a transparent wall overlooking a coral garden. After the ceremony, guests could be escorted to the dining room for cocktails and gourmet hors d’oeuvres as our staff quickly rearranges the space to produce a dance floor and suitable sit-down dining arrangements.

Outdoors
There’s something undeniably sensual about the sea: the salty fragrance of the ocean’s breeze, the rhythmic beat of the surf, the gentle curve of a rising wave… Plans for you and your partner could gladly abandon yourselves to this all-enveloping world where each sense is heightened. Want your ceremony to take place in private, on the sand, at sundown, under a white hibiscus-covered arbor with a steel drum band performing?

But sad to say this never happened. The resort was to feature twenty-four 550-square-foot guest rooms, an underwater restaurant and bar, a library, conference room, wedding chapel, spa and a 1,200-square-foot luxury suite. Reservations at the resort were to be priced at $30,000 per couple per week.

Would You Like To Visit A Real Wolf?

I must say that something that matters to me is proper care of animals.  The exotic wolf population is no different. I have had a chance to be around them and they are fantastic big dogs.  Yes, they are like any big dog.  They are very intelligent and very sweet and want nothing more than a good belly rub.

Are you looking for something different to do this summer? Would you like to do something very different and to have that in the cool pines and just 2 hours away from the Phoenix Metro area?

Consider The Medicine Wheel Lodge. The Medicine Wheel Lodge invites you to go back in time listening to the stories passed down from. the Shamans while reconnecting with the Earth Mother and experiencing Harmony and Balance amidst a private ancient oasis. The Peace you will experience is the presence of those who have gone before, and those who are still present. It is their connection and reverence to the land that gifts all who visit, such tranquility. If you are very perceptive, you may see them or watch them dance or feel their energy.

The name and vision of the Medicine Wheel Lodge were given years ago, that the property would be shared with all who found their way to it.  The Shamans said that this would open the hearts of those who were drawn here so that they would be prepared to seek and embark on their own journeys.

The wolves are teachers and particularly get excited when the children come to visit. They are gentle and loving. The wolf medicine teaches us how to come together as family, how to rely on one another, and how to care for the young, old and sick.

The wolves are leaders, teachers, and protectors. The children learn much from them - respect for all animals and creations, respect for themselves, one another, their siblings, their parents, their teachers, their classmates, Mother Earth and all elements.

The Wolf Sanctuary has raised and rescued different types of wolves.  They are with me until they naturally cross over to spirit. They are not only ambassadors for their own kind, but for all animals, both wild and domestic.

They are Medicine Wheel teachers! You will not only learn about them, and their  "medicine" but you will go into the their large habitat and will interact with them, while receiving many kisses and feeling their healing energy.   These Tundra wolves are very special, with a sweetness that exudes many healing qualities.

If you are wanting joy, unconditional love, balance and harmony, seeking to learn how to love supernaturally and  successfully, these magnificent creatures will teach you about love, loyalty, learning, listening, trust, forgiveness, releasing fear, patience, living in the moment, and how to become one with nature and wildlife.

I must remind you that you need to call first to make an appointment to visit the wolves.  928-592-0588

My Travels: Le Rendez-Vous Paloma Bed & Breakfast

As part of what I do, I get to travel and visit different properties around the country. I was very amazed how nice this Bed and Breakfast was. The Le Rendez-Vous Paloma Bed & Breakfast suite in Tucson is a perfect example of a surprise that was over the top in what it had to offer. It is perhaps the best overall B & B in the country. When you take each category you may find one that beats it because a single unique feature. But here we are talking over all.  Location, view, quality and amenities it is nearly impossible to beat. From the furnishings, to the art, to quality of the sheets, to view from the patio and the perfectly stocked fridge and pantry in the full kitchen setup is near perfect.

My cool and comfortable one bedroom suiye featured one of the greatest 180 degree wrap around deck view of the Catalina Mountains and city lights, the rooms comfortably accommodate up to 4 and are centrally located on a quiet hilly 3 acre desert landscaped property. Here is a link to a full panoramic view from my deck.

You will enjoy a relaxing stay in one of their cozy Suites tucked away in the Catalina foothills with a 180 degree view oif surrounding of the magnificent Catalina mountains and City lights below, and just 5 miles away from a wonderful and well acclaimed bistro bar French restaurant, owned and operated by Gordon Berger, the owner of Le Rendez-Vous’ son. I enjoyed some wonderful coq au vin (chicken in red wine) one evening on the patio with the warm city lights sparkling in the valley below.

I also need to mention the pool, spa and separate cozy hot tub as just part of the amenities. Would you care for a massage? Just call your host and Martha will provide you a rejuvenating relaxing massage. Lighted and covered parking is right outside your suite. I must add that Jean's wife, the masseuse, was out of the country while I was there and I didn't get a chance to enjoy this feature during my stay.

On property you will find a washer and dryer. Your flat screen TV is cable fed and each suite has its own fast, powerful, wireless Internet connection. I want to repeat that this isn’t a shared connection. Accessories and an extra power strip are found in a drawer in the kitchen.

You will marvel at the art and details in the suite. These touches along with reading material make this a truly relaxing environment. Perhaps the biggest surprise is how modestly priced all of this luxury is. The minimum stay is three days. There are 5 separate units on property. Each one is located with different views and is furnished uniquely.

This could be a good spot to mention the property will "consider" pets. My host even offered to pet sit so I coud go out for a night on the town. One consideration for pet owners is that much of the property is desert plants and you need to walk them with care.

Baby Boi and Markeyy enjoying a view of the moon from my suites' front porch.
