I’m With The Band: Malicious Melodies

While I have been dancing with local bands in and around the Phoenix Metro area for a number yearsm one group I have been working with lately is Malicious Melodies. This band is relatively new but is made up from musicians from other bands. The current members of Malicious Melodies are John McGaw lll - Lead Vocalist, Jeramey Wilson - Lead guitar, Erik Redmon - Rhythm guitar, Dennis Kennis - Bassist, Josh Bounds - Drums and Rizzi Rocks - Dancer:. That’s right I am officially part of the band.

We are listing our Genre as Hard Rock but I think it is very difficult to pin us down to just hard rock, perhaps Rock and Roll woild be more accurate. We write and perform our own original songs. Depending on location and as a tribute to both the artists and the fans we play some popular covers as well. Malicious Melodies strives to bring great Rock and Roll and the best performances we can perform to crowds everywhere. We play anywhere and everywhere we can, including house parties, Night clubs, Biker stops, and larger events. To get in contact with the band you need not look far, just hit us on Facebook. The music is so inspiring and wonderful to dance to.

Some of our songs are, Persistence of Life, Wretched Lies, Drink Pot Smoke Beer, End Of Days, Hell Or High Water, Hit Me High Wide and Handsome and In The Shadows   and we are working on getting more music on https://www.reverbnation.com/MaliciousMelodies

Officially founded in January of 2016 with John McGaw lll - Lead Vocals, Jeramey Wilson - Lead guitar, Erik Redmon - Rhythm guitar, Dennis Kennis - Bassist, Todd Hausmann - Bass, Harley Elliott – Drums and Chris Howell - Drums. Recently in Prescott Valley Chole Morgan joined us for back-up vocals and I got to add my voice for one number as well.

My Adventure: At Phoenix Indoor Karting

We found the Phoenix Indoor Karting in Hobby Town USA located at the corner of the 35th Avenue and Greenway Road in Phoenix Arizoa. There are several gocart tracks in the Phoenix Metro area.  This one is by far the most complete in what they offer.

At Phoenix Indoor Karting they enjoy hosting your corporate group events no matter the size! For a truly customizable experience, PIK is the way to race! Their events can challenge and rejuvenate your team; racing brings people together through healthy competition. PIK corporate events allow team members to join forces & collaborate! The corporate event packages are completely customizable & are as affordable as you need them to be.  Enjoy high-speed karting on our ½ mile indoor karting arena, flying high on the 10,000 sq. foot R/C off-road track, slinging tokens & rocking the arcade; & of course enjoy their bar & grill, which serves up the famous Manzanita Speedway Green Chili Burrito!

Are you looking for fun ideas for your next event!? Race over to Phoenix Indoor Karting & let us host your party of the year! PIK is the perfect destination for birthday parties, bachelor or bachelorette parties, grad night, family or class reunions & more! Their race-themed facility offers something for almost everyone. Your group of eight to 500 people will be fully engaged and entertained with all cylinders firing!

PIK offers Wednesday night racing league, the simplest & easiest way to get involved in competitive racing. If you’re interested in joining a karting club or have been looking for a racing league that allows participants to race on a budget, the PIK league is for you! What other racing league provides participants with their racing machine and gear, covers maintenance fees, and handles the track rental fees? At Phoenix Indoor Karting, becoming involved in the Wednesday night league series is as easy as showing up & checking in. No other expenses are required besides your simple and affordable entry fee. The competition is as stiff as that in any amateur racing league – the racing is competitive and exhilarating! If you’d like to take the next step on your path to competitive racing, be on the look out for when the next Wednesday night series starts!

My time their was great fun as I got to sample the karts and the racing on the track. ast as the time I spent behind the wheel of a NASCAR racecar but the PIK offering is a lot less expensive. Phoenix Indoor Karting presents a full fleet of electric karts, specially tuned to run at speeds of up to 45 miles per hour! Their karts feature a 48 volt/20 horsepower electric motor that turns 5,000 RPM.

The karts can accommodate both adult and junior drivers (all drivers must be minimum 54 inches tall). Maximum driver size is dependent upon the ability to operate the kart safely, as determined by our PIK track marshals. Youth under the age of 14 will race at a junior level. Junior level is tuned down to run between 25-30 mph. Junior’s that wish to graduate to an adult speed must have 4 races in junior mode and be approved by a manager to move into the adult class. Please speak with management when you are in their facility for more details.

My Travels: Chapel of the Holy Cross Sedona

On a recent trip to Sedona Arizona I had the chance to drop by the Chapel of the Holy Cross. This amazing historical site was built directly into the red rocks in the mid 1900's and has become a staple of "Must See" sights in Sedona.

More than half a century after its construction, the Chapel of the Holy Cross continues to be a place of wonder, spiritual renewal, and sublime vistas for all who come to Sedona.

This spiritual citadel on a hill is one of the "must see" sights of Sedona. One of Sedona's earliest landmarks is also one of its most endearing — the Chapel of the Holy Cross, where people of all denominations come to offer their prayers, supplications, and praises--and to marvel at the building's distinctive architecture and the panoramic vistas from its site.

Even after half a century, the chapel has a contemporary, almost out-of-time look, a sculptural feel, and a surreal effect as it juts out of two red mounds on a spur of rock that is 200 feet above the ground.

The chapel's most prominent feature is a cross that seems to have been wedged into the rock by some devout pilgrim, who later built a chapel around it. It is an unforgettable sight from all angles. Looking at it directly, it seems the rocks parted to embrace the structure. From the side, it looks like it was dropped into place; from above, it resembles a diving board or runway where one might leap towards spirit.

Inside, the chapel is intimate and unadorned. On the periphery, benches hug the angular walls. In the center, two rows of pews--seven on each side--provide a place to pray or rest. The feeling in the chapel is uplifting. Wherever one sits, the eye is drawn to the cross in the center and to the floor-to-ceiling windows behind it, which provide a magnificent backdrop.

Apart from two tapestries on the wall, the only color in the chapel are the ruby-red flickering candles, a brilliant display of devotion.

My Adventure: Rusty Wallace Racing Experience

Sandy, my classroom instructor
A friend of mine and I had talked about my love of racing and that lead to a great adventure at PIR (Phoenix International Raceway) and that gave me to the chance to drive a real NASCAR race car. Can you say jump at that chance and adventure. Oh Yes!

While there are several companies that offer this I went with Rusty Wallace Racing Experience. I must say they are great to work with and very professional. They offer many different programs.

My day started with classroom instruction with a real racer. Then on to getting fitted in my drivers suit and helmet.  My first experience in a car that day was what is called a ride along. Around the PIR track we went. I must say it is a challenge to video a ride along as you are traveling the raceway at full NASCAR speeds. What an experience.

Then it was time to be fitted into the drivers seat for my shot at the one mile Phoenix track. The classroom experience went through my head, did she mention "fire" and where was I supposed to lift?  Was it the blue marks? With the help of the crew the racing harness was pulled tight and I flipped the switch and the 348 cubic inch racing engine roared to life. I nudged the stick into first gear. I pulled out of the pit smoothly. Then it was down pit lane and merged on to the track as my spotter talked me through the first of my laps. Talk about hearing voices. It gives listening to the radio a whole new meaning.

Boy, talk about a loud environment. But did that motor sound fantastic at full song. Traffic was on my high side as we blasted into to turn three and I made sure to hold my line and let him pass safely. Just so you know they will bill you if you break their race car.  I might add to buy the insurance from RWRE when you sign in at the track where you run.

Then before I knew it they were telling me to pit and refuel the car and that I was out of laps. Again the crew was fantastic and this is a true bucket list item.

Here is a short bit of text from their website http://racewithrusty.com/experiences/ "The Taste of Speed package is for those who want to say, “I did it!” This package will give you all the thrills and excitement of NASCAR racing in a smaller “condensed” version. After classroom instruction, you’ll be on track for laps you sign up for.".

RWRE is among several companies bearing names of famous drivers that offer one-day fantasy-type driving experiences to the public in "condensed" NASCAR vehicles featuring manual transmissions. An advanced package in a Nationwide Series car is available, as are ride-along options.

RWRE's prices range from a $169, five-lap entry-level package on a short layout up to $1,099 for 20 laps on a superspeedway. Classroom and on-track instruction is provided depending on the package, and a driver's license is required.

Participants must have their own health insurance and are responsible for damage to the cars. RWRE offers a $60 optional plan that limits individual costs to $1,000 and says that "due to the quality of the training and cars, damage is rare."

Rusty Wallace, Inc. (RWI) was a NASCAR racing team based in Mooresville, North Carolina, near Charlotte. Owned by former NASCAR Winston Cup champion and commentator Rusty Wallace, the team competed primarily in the Xfinity Series (formerly the Busch and Nationwide Series) with Wallace's younger brother Kenny Wallace and son Steve Wallace.

Modeling: For WHYmediate?

Here is a recent modeling assignment for a law firm that does mediation for couples that need help resolving a pending break-up in a positive learning environment. So here is a part of the WHYmediate? story.

If I say “Prenup” is the first thing that comes to mind, an image of a male? Not surprising as it is with most people. It is common to think of protecting the assets of a male from the clutches of a conniving female. Are you aware that it is just as likely for the assets of the female in a new marriage to be at risk?

What does my future hold? How can I makes these changes?
Every prenuptial agreement is, by definition, a negotiated agreement and the manner of negotiation makes a difference, too. It is no secret that negotiated agreements have much higher compliance rates than court orders. Every experienced family law attorney has heard somebody challenge an agreement that they signed, on the grounds that they "just signed the agreement their attorney put in front of them," or "didn't understand what they were signing." This type of complaint is much less likely to arise if the client has a significant role in negotiating the specific terms of the agreement. Unlike lawyer-to-lawyer negotiation, the mediation process helps ensure that you and your spouse-to-be are active participants in the negotiations and are fully aware of what you are signing. Thus, in the event of a divorce, you will both be that much more likely to comply with the terms of the agreement, rather than attempt to contest your agreement.

No one wants to cast a legal veil over their wedding day. Once you understand the factors that go into preparing a valid and enforcable prenuptial agreement, and realize the potential pitfalls of lawyer-to-lawyer negotiation, the benefits of a mediated prenuptial agreement will become quite clear. Mediation is a chance for you and your spouse-to-be to determine the provisions of your prenuptial agreement together, demonstrating to each other the same kind of mutual respect and understanding that you hope to carry with you through your upcoming marriage.

The modern secular prenuptial agreements that exist in the United States can be traced back to sixteenth-century England.  From these historic roots, the modern “prenup” has a basic focus for two people about to marry:  setting forth the rights of each person in the property of the other should they later divorce.

Please remember that no matter how Happy the Beginning 50 percent of all marriages don't have Happy Endings.  Your next step for your mediated prenuptial agreement can be a simple phone call to us at 480-777-5500.

At WHYmediate?, Find out why mediation will allow you to resolve many different types of conflicts in a positive learning environment that covers how to deal with all the upcoming days in your life.
